Improving Your Social Skills

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

It’s all great to have a lot of success in your life and making a lot of money, but what’s the point of it if you have no one to share your success. Would you really like to have millions upon millions of dollars if your life was limited to spending all your time to your business or your work?

It is of utmost importance to have a good network of contacts, and more importantly, friends. You should always have in mind that making new contacts is very important. It is moments that we spend with other people that leave the greatest memories and bring the most happiness.

But you see, no matter how important socializing is, it seems that a great number of people have let it aside. There are more and more surveys and studies that show that today, more than ever, people are spending more time alone. They spend their time watching TV shows, they surf on the internet for hours everyday, they listen to music alone, they play video games, etc…All these activities are fun and they each have a place in our life, but it is not a reason to seclude ourselves from the rest of the world.

For many, they have spent so much time alone that they almost forgot how to socialize; they almost don’t think about it and live their life alone. Others have concentrated so much time and effort to their finance that they spend no more than just a few minutes a week with their friends.

The best way to improve your social skills is to simply practice it. Go out there and meet new people. Take your phone now and call a good friend who you haven’t spoke to for some while and try to connect back. Start little at first; just try to connect with 1-2 people every week. Before you know it, you will have built a good network in just a few weeks.

As you practice, your level of comfort will grow. You will start visiting new places, making new friends and attending even more social events.

In order, here are the steps to a better social life.
1) Realize how important it is to have a social life.
2) Start small to building relationships.
3) Practice and keep practicing

Sharing your life with other people brings fun and happiness. At the minimum, we all need at least a few hours of socializing every week where we can forget all of our problems in our life and just having a good time and fun with friends.

Now that Celine Dion’s show is over at Caesers Palace, you might be wondering what will replace this gigantic and epic show Celine had put. Well guess no more, it’s Cher that will replace it!

Cher is one of the most successful and popular singers today, and is probably one of very few people in this world that can match the nature of the show Celine had. She has sold more than 200 million records worldwide alone, this feat alone is worth going to the show, as it represents the quality and entertainment she has provided in the past and will provide in her new show.

While she has seen a lot during her 40 year career, at Caesars Palace, you can bet that the show will be better than anything you have seen of here before. Tickets to see Cher in Las Vegas will go by very quickly, and to be sure you will be some of the first to see her shows you would order as soon as possible.

Her show will begin in the month of May and is going some of the things you just don’t want to miss in Las Vegas. You can also check her schedule here.

Small Business Mistakes

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Starting a small business can be very lucrative, but when you start reading the failure rates of small businesses, the numbers really start to scare you away. The fact is that a huge percentage of these failures are from very inexperienced entrepreneurs who are at their early stages of their development. And, since these entrepreneurs are young in addition of being inexperienced, there’s a few factors that come and interfere with their business.

All failures of small business have many grounds in common. Disorganization is high on that list. By opening a new business, being organized is as important as the business itself. Are the employees reliable? Are your costs clear? How is your inventory? Do you have any marketing plans? There are hundreds of questions to ask yourself and you should have answers to all of them. Eliminate guessing from your mind. There must be no guessing whatsoever. While you might think that guesses and estimations work from time to time, doing them will get you accustomed to it and will sooner or later get you in trouble for an important decision.

Little or no market research is another reason of business failures that ranks up there with disorganization. Just because an idea sounds good and looks good on paper does not mean that your business will be a success. The next thing to do right after your idea is not to open a business, but to research your market. Opening an electronic and gadget store in an area where the mean of the age population is 65 won’t necessarily work.

Not building customer relations will affect your business in the long run. If you think marketing is enough for a business to succeed, you will have some surprises. Small business start ups are dependent for their success with customer relations that with any other type of business. Word of mouth can mean the difference between success and failure.

Don’t be too proud and arrogant. When you make a mistake, admit it and move on. Staying in the game just to show your right will dig you deeper in trouble than you can imagine.

Lack of work is an obvious one, yet so many fail even knowing it. A lot of people are just tired of working and struggle even getting up in the morning to get to work. These people want to get out of the routine and start their business. What they don’t realize is that starting a business will require 10 times more energy and work than your regular job. If you just know that you are a lazy person, why even open a small business? If you’re the kind of person who needs tips and tricks to waking up in the morning, don’t apply!
